Skylar Ann Gay

Skylar studies gut microbiome lactic acid fixation in the context of endurance and high‑performance athletes from a systems biology viewpoint. She appreciates the way that Alex and the lab approach asking questions and the variety of projects within the lab. She attended the University of Virginia, class of 2025, and joined the Harvard Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program that fall, and is part of the Graduate Program in Bacteriology. Her previous research includes bacteriophage discovery, computational analyses of viral transmission and ancestral SARS‑CoV‑2 sequences, and antibiotic tolerance and species interactions in anaerobic biofilms.
